Getting Set Up for WordPress Explained

Often hosting companies will install all sorts of extra content into your site.

Before you start “WordPress Explained”, I recommend you clean up any extra, unwanted, content

Step #1. Remove Content

  • Go to “Posts” then “All Posts”.
  • Use the checkboxes to select all the posts.
  • Select “Move to Trash” from the “Bulk Actions” dropdown.
  • Click “Apply”.

  • Go to “Pages” then “All Pages”.
  • Use the checkboxes to select all the pages.
  • Select “Move to Trash” from the “Bulk Actions” dropdown.
  • Click “Apply”.

Step #2. Remove Plugins

  • Go to “Plugins”.
  • Use the checkboxes to select all the pages except “Akismet” and “Hello Dolly”.
  • Select “Deactivate” from the “Bulk Actions” dropdown.
  • Click “Apply”.
  • Select “Delete” from the “Bulk Actions” dropdown.
  • Click “Apply”.

Step #3. Activate the Twenty Seventeen Theme

  • Go to “Appearance”, then “Themes”.
  • Click “Activate” next to the Twenty Seventeen theme:

  • You should now see that Twenty Seventeen is marked as “Active”.
