Lost Widget and Downloads Button when upgrading

3 years 8 months ago #125438 by spiff111
I am working on making a site using wordpress and easydigitaldownloads. I had it partially made, and then I upgraded the wordpress version. Also, I accidently viewed (and published) a different theme. When I did this, it caused me to lose the "Downloads" button on the admin panel. I also lost the downloads that I had put in my categories widget. Is there anyway to get them back or a way to restore the settings?

Hi and welcome, lkindopp!

Updating your WordPress version shouldn't result in any loss of data. I wonder if the result you're seeing is also from changing the theme and whether that theme had the functionality built-in.

For the theme, simply go back to Appearance -> Themes -> enable your old theme.

Could you give that a try and see if everything goes back to normal?

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hello,
My old theme is showing as the "active" theme. Is there some other way to "enable" it?
Thanks

That's the correct way. Unfortunately, since we're not familiar with your site the way it was previously, it's hard to know how to help in this case. If you want, you can send us login info and steps to replicate the issue (and what result you'd expect instead) to support@ostraining.com. I think that might be the best way to resolve this. In the email, can you attach a link to this topic for reference?

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks! I think I figured out the reason :)

Go to:
1) Plugins (left menu)
2) Installed Plugins (sub menu)
3) Easy Digital Downloads -> Activate it.

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks! I think we are getting closer! However, I still can't see my list of categories and my downloads that were associated with each category. They were on the right side, the text was red, and there were 20 or so categories with downloads associated with them.
Thanks

Great! :)

Do you mean in the admin or the front-end?

For the admin, go to:
- Downloads (left menu)
- Categories (sub menu)

Kind regards,
Nick
