Joomla 2.5.8/Contact form - Not receiving mails... 5 years 5 months ago #61185

Hi,
i'm using Joomla 2.5.8 stable, and i can't receive the mail sent from the contact form i have on the website, i only receive the copy. There are no error messages, and it says the mail was successfully sent.

I've tested many configurations, contacted the host provider, and he says the problem must be from joomla.

I've searched the Joomla forums, tested many possibilities, like overwriting the mail folders on the libraries (phpmailer) with the folders from a previous version of joomla (2.5 and 2.5.4), but nothing worked.

There's a possibility of the cause being the Joomla Safe Mode is ON, but i don't know how to turn the safe mode off.

Hope you can help me with this issue, because i'm a bit desperate,

thanks,

Hi cesaralex and welcome to OSTraining,

Do all other emails on the site work correctly? For example, when people register, are emails sent out correctly?

Hi and welcome, Cesaralex!

What are you using for the contact form (e.g. Joomla's default contacts component or any extension)? Can we get a link to the page to take a quick look?

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Joomla 2.5.8/Contact form - Not receiving mails... 5 years 5 months ago #61201

Hi,

thanks for answering!

#Steve, i haven't tested sending mails other way, the only mail that works fine is the "sending copy" option on the contact form, which works fine.

#Nick, i'm using the Joomla default contact form. You can view it in: www.hotelcristorei.com/contacte-nos, but the website is offline, so you must use the [edited by Nick].

César

Hi César,

Ok, go to:
1) Components (Top Menu)
2) Contacts (Sub Menu)
3) Edit your contact
4) Contact Details (right side slider)
5) Email field. What's set there? Is it set to the email that you want it to go to? If so, double check and make sure it's spelled correctly and that there isn't a typo.

Kind regards,
Nick

Joomla 2.5.8/Contact form - Not receiving mails... 5 years 5 months ago #61210

Hi Nick,

the email i've typed there is not the same i'm using in the server settings to receive the mails from the contact form. Could that cause a conflict?

There is no typo, but the email is not the same, for ex, i have This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. on the server email settings, and there i have This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

thanks,

Joomla 2.5.8/Contact form - Not receiving mails... 5 years 5 months ago #61225

Just one more question Nick:

and if i want the messages to be sent to more than one email, is it possible, for example, adding a "," or a ";"?

thanks a lot,

Give it a try using comma separation, but I don't think it's possible with the contacts component if I remember correctly. You could use a forms extension if you need that feature. We recommend RSForms Pro:

Hope this helps!

Joomla 2.5.8/Contact form - Not receiving mails... 5 years 5 months ago #61457

Hi Nick,

i found this hack on the web for the Joomla contact form, that allows to enter e-mail addresses seperated by a ";" in the contact's information.

I'm not sure if it works, but it says we just need to replace this line:
$mail->addRecipient( $contact->email_to );

with this:
for ($z=0;$z<count(explode(';', $contact->email_to));$z++) {
$mail->addRecipient( $emails[$z] );
}

in the file 'components/com_contact/controllers/contact.php', line 146.

regards,

César

Hi César,

We do not recommend core hacks, as updating your Joomla version will potentially lose the code. If you want to change core files, then you should use the following Plugin Override:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/style-a...ign/templating/15611

Even then, we recommend generally not overriding as a subsequent Joomla version may contain a security fix for that file and since it's being overriden with the older version of the file, the security fix wouldn't fix anything.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick
