Google Not Indexing the Majority of my site,

5 years 11 months ago #118414 by asmockwv
domain is www.phunfotobooth.com Google is only indexing a few pages, and not the home page, so search results are terrible. I've optimized Drupal, the Search Console, checked for blocks and everything else I can think of. But, no change in the searches.

Any ideas? I"m at a loss.

Hi asmockwv,

Please consider to submit a sitemap to improve the indexing of your site: www.ostraining.com/blog/drupal/how-to-ad...your-drupal-website/

Looking forward to help you

Several weeks ago - I resubmitted it just now, or I could give you the exact date. My concern is that's when the four pages showed up, so it's missing the other 12, which of course are more important to the searches.

My first guess tells me some pages from your site probably were previously indexed without www. in the domain.

For Google, the new two urls are different even if are for the same domain:
http://phunfotobooth.com/
http://www.phunfotobooth.com/

Read more about it in support.google.com/webmasters/answer/34441?hl=en

Worth to force www. in the urls to avoid this problem: www.ostraining.com/blog/coding/non-www-to-www/

I had both the www. and the no www. set up under google search console, and the www. set as the preferred. I went ahead and forced the www. with the .htaccess file.

So, now I wait?

Hi asmockwv,

Looks like they are all showing up in Google, though some show the www version and others the non-www version:
www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=site:phunfotobooth.com

By the way, the www is not being forced in your htaccess. You can see this by going to phunfotobooth.com/

Please use the following tutorial to force the www:
www.ostraining.com/blog/coding/non-www-to-www/

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks for the help. In Drupal, I had to use a module to modify the .htaccess file. It was just easier.

I will work with the Google Search console (webmaster tools) to determine why certain pages are not showing up even when they are indexed. But at least it's now narrowed down.
