Gravity Forms request for this Friday's webinar

7 years 8 months ago - 7 years 8 months ago #88833 by willheine
Please give this message to Rod...

I am really looking forward to Rod's Gravity Forms webinar this Friday.
I love gravity forms but I am not familiar with a plug-in that allows clients to save their progress when filling out a multi-part form, so they can return to it at another time. As you might guess, this is a huge benefit to clients who are asked to fill out a lengthy, multi-page form, and may need to come back to finish it at a later time.

Not sure, Rod, if you could find a way to address this on Friday, but it sure would be a lot of help.

Thank you!

Hi Will,

currently there isn't a way to do that without some pretty heavy custom work.

NinjaForms (a relative newcomer) does have a paid plugin for that... We hope to cover it in an upcoming tutorial series.

I'll talk about the issues on Friday if that would be helpful - but I won't have an easy answer unfortunately.

Hey, Rod,

Thanks for the quick reply. I know there is a Gravity forms add-on that allows this. I'm just not sure how stable it is. Three of my customers have complicated, multi-page forms, and they are begging me to find a way to allow people, who are signed in, to come back and complete the form at a later time.

The following Gravity add-on, "Data Persistence", claims that they have solved this problem.

I was hoping to get your thoughts on this: wordpress.org/plugins/gravity-forms-data-persistence-add-on/

I recently moved from Joomla to WordPress and my work life is so much easier.

Allow me to take this moment to thank your Valentin, for his spot-on support. He is one of the reasons I tell all my WordPress developer friends about OSTraining.

Thank you, and keep up the great work!

yeah - unfortunately it appears to be broken and a less-that-helpful developer.

I'll take a look at it before Friday - but don't hold your breath that this is an easy answer :)

Hey Will,

I covered the plugin in the webinar... and it worked for me.

Couple of issues:
1. Users have to be logged in to get it to work - there's no way around that - since its how forms are stored in the database.
2. there's a fix for the current version here: wordpress.org/support/topic/checkbox-to-...-not-staying-checked - really easy to implement.

The webinar will be up shortly - but it seems that the issue might be resolvable.

I unfortunately missed your webinar because of a pressing issue. I appreciate you testing that plugin. Having customers be signed in is no problem.

I did correspond with the Gravity Forms people and they said that they have the "save forms" feature on their planned feature list for the next relesse, which I am very happy about.

Here is their response to my email:

We have it on our list of planned features for the next release of Gravity Forms, 1.9. There is no release date set. We're still discussing the features we'll be adding to Gravity Forms. Watch the blog for updates. Thank you.

Thank you, again, Rod.

Thank you, Valentin, for providing me with the link to Rod's webinar.

And a big thanks to Rod for adding the persistence plugin to his list of covered topics. I will start using that until the next Gravity Forms update which is suppose to include the persistence feature.

Can you look at something for me? I asked a programmer, that I work with on occasion, to reformat the front page blog on the 1-2-3-websites.com site that you've been helping with. If you go to the Blog page via the top menu, you will see that his reformatting looks good there because the thumbnail size is smaller. This allows me to fit more blog entries on the front page without it taking too much vertical space. But the blog section on the front page is still too large.

Could you please look to see what I need to do to shrink the the blog thumbnail size and spacing to the size of the attached image?

As always, I really appreciate your help.

Will
