Upgrade to J3.5.1 Issue was created by nphic
Folks,

I was upgrading my website this morning to J3.5.1. I encountered two issues with the upgrade. They are as follows:

1. I received a Warning that an infinite loop was detected. Upgrade did continue processing.
2. The upgrade continue processing and then it display the following message:

ERROR: 0
Invalid controller: name='update', format=''

I'm not sure if the upgrade to J3.5.1 completed successfully or I have a partial baked site. Any thoughts on how I should proceed?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Please give www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-reset-joomla/ a try. You'll likely need to unzip the package in the Joomla root for step 3, since there appears to be a bug with the installer for core files.

Kind regards,
Nick

Nick,

Thanks! Just to make sure I pull the correct package, I should be installing the package from 3.4.8 to 3.5.1 correct?

Thanks,
Joe

Nick,

I went to the Joomla package site. I attached an image of the packages that I see there. Which one should I be applying? I was updating from Joomla 2.4.8.

Thanks,
Joe

You're going to want the Joomla_3.5.1-Stable-Update_Package.zip package.

Nick,

Only one issue. I downloaded the package, followed the directions in your OSTraining "How-To" and recieved an error message:

Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file.
Error
Unable to find install package

It does not install per your "How-To" statement, "Next, simply install it as you would a normal extension. This will reset all the core files, and also run the database checks.".

Do I just unzip and upload via FTP and overwrite files?

Thanks,
Joe

Yes, I think you'll need to do that for Joomla 3.5. There appears to be bug with installing core packages via the installer.
