Author Name issue

Author Name issue was created by savethefrogs
Hi,
I have an article with an Author problem:
The Author Name appears when the article is being viewed by the category view, but when you click the title to go to article view the name goes away. Thoughts?
Thanks, Kerry

Hi Kerry,

Go to:
1) Content
2) Articles
3) Find your article and edit it
4) Options tab
5) Make sure "Show Author" is set to Global or Show

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,
My Global setting for articles are Show Author.
In the article itself it was at Global. I just tried Show Author. The same problem continues:
In article view the author does not show. In category view ( www.savethefrogs2.com/events ) the author does show.

OK, try this. Go to:
1) Your Events menu item and edit it
2) Options tab
3) Set it to Global (or use Article Settings, or Show)

That should work for you for sure. If not, it's likely that the template has changed the behavior and we can figure that out together.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,
That did not help. The author shows when I click the menu link that shows category. It does NOT show when I click the title of the article, to show the article itself. I just noticed this is the case with all my articles.

I confirmed that Global Article setting is set to Show Author. See attached.

Hi Kerry,

I think the template is using a built in setting that replace the author name with an avatar (the small grey picture next to "Written by").

Kind regards,
Valentín

Hi Valentin,
I will write RSJoomla about that.

Here is new info though:
I just created a feature article for the top of
www.savethefrogs2.com
I have tried to hide author, create date and category in the article's option, but none of these are working.
Thoughts? Thank you!

Let's confirm if the issue comes from your template by switching to another design.
Go to www.savethefrogs2.com/events/save-the-fr.../?template=protostar

It should load a different template. Look for the author settings, see if they looks better.

Hi Valentin,
I tested in protostar:
Still the article keeps showing everything, while the homepage (menu view I assume) hides everything since those are correctly the global configurations for articles.

So I don't think it's the template.

Hi Kerry,

The login worked, however your frontend is blank: www.savethefrogs2.com/events/save-the-fr...ogs-day-2016-awards/

What changed recently?

Hi Valentin,
I'm not sure what you mean. www.savethefrogs2.com/events/save-the-fr...ogs-day-2016-awards/ is still visible from the frontend.

It was blank early today. The site loads fine now for me.

In backend:
  1. Go to Components
  2. RSEvents! Pro
  3. Settings
  4. Events
  5. User avatar: none

That's the only place where I see mentions of gravatar. If you have any concern, worth to ask to the developer.
