Facebook custom HTML module

Facebook custom HTML module was created by emilylu
Hi,

We had a Facebook feed in custom HTML module working on our joomla site but now I can't figure out why it is not working...
here is joomla page:
schools.district279.org/pcsh/

here is the code:
<div class="fb-page" data-href=" www.facebook.com/ParkCenterSeniorHigh/ " data-tabs="timeline" data-width="200" data-height="400" data-small-header="true" data-adapt-container-width="false" data-hide-cover="false" data-show-facepile="true"><div class="fb-xfbml-parse-ignore"><blockquote cite=" www.facebook.com/ParkCenterSeniorHigh/ "><a href=" www.facebook.com/ParkCenterSeniorHigh/ ">Park Center Senior High</a></blockquote></div></div>

as you can see, it didn't display the feed instead it's just a "link" to facebook.

Please help! thanks.

Hi Emily,

It seems the Activity feed is deprecated .
Use instead the Page Plugin .

Kind regards,
Valentín

Hi Valentin,

That is where I got the code, see my screenshot below. What else could go wrong with the custom html module?? I know it works before! Thanks.

Disable the editor from System > Global configuration > Default editor: none (to avoid losing the javascript code in next step)
Then paste the code into your custom module and save it.

That did helped, thanks!
However, when I switch to the default editor, I don't have any other buttons anymore like the wysiwyg editor... what should I do? Is there a way to make those JS stays without disable the editor? Thanks!

We're glad that helped, Emily!

One option is to install an extension that allows you to make the editor switches quicker. Here are two such extensions:
1) Switch Editor:
extensions.joomla.org/extension/switch-editor

2) Editor Switcher:
extensions.joomla.org/extension/editor-switcher

But that won't help in situations where you want to use the WSIWYG editor after already having entered the JavaScript code. In those case, it's best to allow JS within the editor itself. Which specific editor are you using?

Are you using JCE per chance? If so, give this a try:

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Kind regards,
Nick

In addition to Nick's suggestion, we have a tutorial that will be helpful if you decide for a switch editor: www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/switch-editor/

So the same FB custom html module was working fine until today it stop showing after I replace the code and still not showing on the Joomla page.

Here is the page, the FB module should show under the Google calendar module on the right:
schools.district279.org/pcsh/

and the code is the same as I shared previously in my screenshot.
By any chance you guys notice any changes? Thanks for helping on this again.

Hi Emily,

It doesn't seem the module is active anymore.
Please double check the module is published and assigned to at least this page .

Kind regards,
Valentín

That's the odd thing. trust me, it is enabled and nothing changed from before and published to the homepage... it's just gone and I can't figure out why. I can include a screenshot of the module but I don't think it will do any good?

Hi Emily,
The settings look good.

The next step is, to confirm the module position is correct.

I switch the "ordering" for that same module position then it show up... very odd, it shouldn't matter but at least it's showing up now.

Can you think of anything that will cause it not to show up with the ordering being the same as before? Like i said, everything works fine before and with the same configuration.

Thanks.

Interesting! I'm glad it's working now.

Probably a cache thing from the server side? It is hard to know, but I agree that's very odd.
