Images folder has gone missing

5 years 7 months ago #123320 by savethefrogs
Images folder has gone missing was created by savethefrogs
After spending three hours using the extremely slow native Joomla media manager to create folders and subfolders (it needs to reload the page after every folder), I did something that makes the images folder seemed to have disappeared:

Clicking on Content-->Media gives me:
Warning JFolder: :folder: Path is not a folder. Path: /home/savethefrogs/savethefrogs2.com/images

And indeed filezilla shows me that in www.savethefrogs2.com there is no images folder.

I must have deleted it in extplorer, which I have barely used. I only went to extplorer because neither the Joomla Media Manager nor the JCE Image Manager have the ability to delete folders or to easily move folders or images around (seems like a huge feature deficit). So perhaps I hit delete on the entire images folder by mistake. Is there anywhere it would possibly reside? Could I do a search for it or one of the folders I created in it? Do trashed folders reside anywhere?

If it's gone forever, can I create a folder system through Mac Finder and then just upload that as the images folder via filezilla, as the Joomla Media Manager is a super slow way to make 100 + different folders?
Thank you!!!

Hi savethefrogs

I'm sorry to hear this happened.

Do you have FTP access to the site? That would absolutely be the fastest way to upload 100+ images.

I sure do. But I didn't lose images. I created a folder structure with about 100 folders using the Media Manager. Now the images folder is gone. Is there a way to search the site to see if I just moved it somewhere by mistake? If I need to rebuild it, can I use my Mac Finder to make folders and then upload them all in a folder named images? The Media Manager is a very slow way to make 100 folders. Thanks!

Hi Kerry,

To search files, you have two options:
1) Download all your site's files using FTP, then search the files locally using your Mac Finder.
2) Check and see if your host has a file manager with a search feature in it. For example, it might have cPanel File Manager which has a search in it.

Yes, if you download all the files locally, you can use your Mac Finder to make the folders (and place the images in them), then use FTP to upload them all.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Kind regards,
Nick
