Joomla 3.4.8 category blog

Joomla 3.4.8 category blog was created by Enrico
Hello Joomla Gurus,

I'm creating a Joomla site magazine to contain book reviews. I have a category Reviews containing articles of reviews of individual books. Each review has a single author and is presented in list view on a main Reviews page that displays intro text and a Read More link. When the visitor clicks on the Read More link, they land on the article page. I would like to set up a left sidebar that will contain a short note about the author of the review, a thumbnail photo of the author of the review, and several links to other websites that have reviewed the same book title that appears in the article to the right of the sidebar. I was planning on creating a custom html module to display this information in the sidebar. I understand how to associate a single unique custom html module with a particular page by using the Module > Menu Assignment tab. But this approach requires the creation of a specific-content module for each book under review. How do I configure Joomla to associate the custom html module content with the corresponding article? In other words, I'd like to create a generic custom html module in the left sidebar that will contain variable content that corresponds to the article content on the same page.

Thanks,
Hank

Hi Hank,

By using Advanced module manager you can extend the assignment functionality to match articles instead of just pages (menu items). Our class will help you with the basics: www.ostraining.com/courses/class/joomla/amm?task=view

Check specially the "Joomla content" lesson.

I'd like to create a generic custom html module in the left sidebar that will contain variable content that corresponds to the article content on the same page.

If it's just a generic HTML module, my previous suggestion would be enough.

Kind regards,
Valentín
