smart search on joomla

5 years 11 months ago #120724 by Mardhiah
smart search on joomla was created by Mardhiah
I have enabled the 'smart search' module that is already provided by joomla (i guess) and i have configured it accordingly. I would like users to be able to search not only the articles but also the products that i have. But the return is that there was no results found. The products i created are in hikashop. I am using joomla 2.5 and hikashop 2.6.

PLEASE HELP!

Hi Mardhiah,

Please give a try to this tutorial - check the steps carefully and use a smart search module (instead of the regular search module).

UPDATE: checking in details, Hikashop is not integrated with smart search. The developer suggest to use instead the search engine from Hikashop .

Kind regards,
Valentín

I have no idea how to go around the hikasop search engine. I have activated the search engine in the joomla plugins 'Search - Hikashop Products'. But how do i make it appear on the website?

I have followed the instructions you gave on using the search engine from hikashop and researched more on how to go aobut it. They said to enable the search module and not smart search. I have done that and also filled in the item id based on the hikashop product and category menus. The search bar appears on the front end but i got an error instead. I searched on the error but its not working. I have attached all information that i think is related. Please help me!

Hi Mardhiah

Can you try this:
1) Disable all the smart search plugins
2) Disable the regular search plugins 1-by-1. Everytime you disable a search plugin, test to see if the search is working again. It's possible that one of those plugins is breaking the search and this will help us find which one.

i have done as you suggested and the same error still appears. I was wondering what does the item id in the url box mean? Is there any other search plugins you can suggest that is able to search on the products in hikashop as well?

Refresh and see if loads different.

Hi Mardhiah,

That means the error comes from your template.

Via FTP, go to templates/yourtemplate/html/ folder
Look for com_search folder and rename it to "com_search_something"

Refresh the page and see how it looks.

Kind regards,
Valentín

Hi Mardhiah,

Interesting! I thought the folder was there containing some buggy code. Let's see if the template is up-to-date.

Check the template version as this tutorial explains: www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/extension-version-number/ - last version is 1.0.8

Kind regards,
Valentín

Yup, it is the last version. I am using the jsn template.
I did a search on all the com_search folders but none of them is under the template that i am using.

Hi Mardhiah,

I tested the last version of the template in a Joomla 2.5 install. I got the same error, which means the template is not suitable for Joomla 2.5. Only works in Joomla 3.x

Hopes this clarification helps

KInd regards,
Valentín
