Joomla search

Hi,

For some reason Joomla search is not searching through all the content on my site and when I add the keyword in the meta tag, it still didn't come up on my search results... did I miss something or something else I need to configure in my search module? I also notice the search result shows up on the bottom of my homepage and I forgot how to set it up so it will show up on the single page? I try select a menu item from the "Set ItemID" field but didn't help either.

Please advise, thanks.

Hi Emily,

1. Which type of content is not being searched by Joomla? Articles, contacts, K2 items?
2. May we have a link to the search page?

Kind regards,
Valentín

Hi Valentin,

1. I didn't exclude anything from the search plugins, see my screenshot.
2. The search box is located on the upper right: district279.org/
Can you please remind me again how to set up the link to search page? I have a search page created in the system but how to properly assign to it?

Thanks!

May you give me an example of content not being picked up by the search results? Like an specific article's url, so I can try in my end

To assign the search module to a menu item, go to Extensions > Modules > Your search module
In "Set ItemID" choose the menu item

Kind regards,
Valentín

Ok, I think I've figure out the problem.... I had "space" in my tags (i.e. "ba 9"), so when i search "ba 9" it didn't come up but "ba9" came up. Is it because spaces are not allowed? Thanks.

Hi Valentin,

I just realize not only spaces are not allowed in tags, it also requires minimum of 3 characters, so in my case the keyword "ba 9" is only 2 characters if people search for "ba" and "9".... is there anything I can do for a work around so when people search for "ba 9" it will bring up the page?

Thanks.

Good catch!

I'm afraid minimum characters is a limitation set on purpose in Joomla core. However I recommend to post the issue about spaces in tags in the repository, so developers can see if that improvement can be applied in future releases.

Kind regards,
Valentín
