Ozio Gallery

5 years 11 months ago #120029 by standib
Ozio Gallery was created by standib
I just installed Ozio Gallery partially based on the OSTraining videos that recommended it highly and said it was easy to set up. I think Ozio gallery will be great but I can't get past the Google+ set up. The OSTraining video is nothing like the actual Google+ experience. Could you please revisit this? I need accurate step by step instructions to set up a proper "Album" or "Collection" and then get an autho key.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi standib,

Is it this video that you're going through?
www.ostraining.com/courses/session/joomla/ozio/videos/install/

If so, is it the 1:00 minute mark that you get stuck at?

Or are you going through another tutorial?

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Yes, this is the video. First, I can fond no reference to a 'Category' in Google +. Only Collections and Albums. Second, apparently there are two places to upload photos. The main Google+ page and also in the Google Apps menu under photos. Next, I can find an Album ID but it is about 35 characters long (if I am even in the correct location) and I cannot find the autho key anywhere. Only the image id.
Actually, from my point of view, setting up, uploading, then getting the info for Ozio could be a separate video. At this point, neither myself nor my client understand and I will have to find another extension if I cannot figure this out in the next few days.

Thanks for your help.

I removed the email and password from your previous reply. This is a public forum, please change the password you shared before as soon as possible!

Sorry for not being clear, I was asking for the url of your profile in Google+
For example, this is mine: plus.google.com/+ValentínGarcía - in your case it could be with numbers instead of a name

Kind regards,
Valentín

When I log in as my customer and go to her profile page. This is the URL:
plus.google.com/u/0/111873683973348488360

I cannot find a url like your example.

Sorry for the delay. I am traveling the next two days.

The URL for the collection is : photos.google.com/album/AF1QipNasxmdvent...KgCfrigWoNgmE615DZk1
So I assume the id is:
AF1QipNasxmdventPHmUjh_dKgCfrigWoNgmE615DZk1
And not a 19 digit number

Hi Bob,
I can't access that page, it seems is a private collection. That may explain why you cannot integrate with Ozio.

Looking forward to help you

Kind regards,
Valentín

Would it be possible for you to take a look in the google+ account if you have the login credentials? If so, what would be the best way to get them to you?

Hi Bob,

What I mean is, edit the collection to be available to the public first. This documentation is a good start, specially in "Edit a collection" section: support.google.com/plus/answer/6210271?hl=en

Unfortunately I'm not allowed to login in email accounts for security reasons.

Kind regards,
Valentín

That's okay. I have deleted this extension as both myself and my client believe the link between Ozio and Google+ is just not user friendly.

Our biggest disappointment (and this is the second time) is that the videos from OSTraining are not accurate or detailed enough and where other extension developers are very willing to get involved and help, OSTraining appears to be unwilling.
I have subscribed to OSTraining for about two years now and I'm not sure I am really getting my money's worth. I keep stumbling on FREE OSTraining videos and wonder why I am paying all this money.

I will have to reevaluate the merits of subscribing to OSTraining when my membership is due to renew.

Hi Bob

I apologize for your disappointment here. Let me take the items one-by-one ...

Ozio Gallery is one of our oldest and shortest Joomla 3 classes. That's why we released it for free and also why it's now out-of-date. We probably should have already moved more quickly to remove that class from our video library here.

In terms of support, sorry - that's one is on me. I've told our team that we can login to people's sites, but should be reluctant to go further. For example, it makes me uncomfortable to have our team login to people's email accounts. There's so much potential personal information in there.

Overall, we should have done better here. I've added an extra month to your account as an apology.
