Joomla 3 breadcrumb

Joomla 3 breadcrumb was created by emilylu
Hi,
I've posted this issue before when our site is still in Joomla 2.5, where I click on certain page and it will bring up "category blog" view which is a bug in Joomla 2.

Example is if I'm on this page:
www.district279.org/trans/99-services-de...1-transportation-faq

Then I click on "Transportation" from the breadcrumb, then I got this:
www.district279.org/trans/99-services-de...ments/transportation

But I should get the "homepage of the Transportation" article instead, which is this:
www.district279.org/services-dept/transportation

So now we are on Joomla 3.4, I still see the "category list page" link on our site. Any idea why those links still being generated by Joomla 3? Thanks!

Hi Emily,

The links look like they might have been copied and pasted with "...". I'm guessing the second one should be "departments", and the firs tone might be "dept1" or "deparments1" or something similar. Could you confirm?

As to your issue, are the words "category list page" appearing? Or is the issue duplicate pages?

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Nick,

This is not the same as "duplicated url" issue that's why I decided to start a new topic so we don't get these 2 issues confused.

so for this issue I had "category list layout" page within my breadcrumb in my Joomla 2.5 site, after I migrate to Joomla 3 I just realize Joomla 3 is still generating those "category list layout" page for no reason. For example:
www.district279.org/trans/99-services-de...ments/transportation
I can't figure out why and how the page above got generated by Joomla?

Any ideas? Thanks.
Emily

Hi Emily,

I was trying to figured out which menu item is associated to that page by login in frontend with the access you provided via email, however something happened: I can't login in frontend while I can in backend.

Let's do some maintenance to reset the core files if something went wrong during the last update:

1) Create and download a backup:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/test-site-akeeba-backup/

2) Fix your folder and file permission using Admin Tools:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/admin-too...nd-file-permissions/

3) Download the following package:
github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/releases/do...ble-Full_Package.zip

then install it from Extensions >> Manage , as you would an extension.

4) Go to Extensions >> Manage >> Database >> Fix

That should reset all your core files to 3.4.5 as well as your database.

5) Clear your browser's cache as well as your site cache.

Kind regards,
Valentín

Hi Valentin,

I disable the frontend login for security reason, we don't allow front-end access, you can only login through the backend.

May I ask why you want me to install the full package joomla? I worry that will overwirte my custom settings in my current site?

Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification, Emily.

About your question, the reinstall of Joomla would reset all your core files to 3.4.5 as well as your database in case any file was corrupted during the upgrade from 2.5 - 3.x

Don't worry, none of your extensions or other settings would be affected, unless you modified a core file. If you follow this suggestion be sure to complete the 5 steps from previous reply in that same order.

Kind regards,
Valentín
