Back up migrate emails not sent

Back up migrate emails not sent was created by Juc2
Hi all,

My D7 example.com database is 15 MB uncompressed. My drupal.org/project/backup_migrate destinations include several different email addresses such as admin@example.com. /admin/reports/status says Cron is running and in /admin/config/system/backup_migrate/schedule "last run" looks correct (one hour ago or one day ago etc). When a schedule is run I get an email from info@example.com saying:

The site backup has completed successfully with the following messages:

Default Database backed up successfully to example-11-04-2016 in destination
admin@example.com in 1039.69 ms.

But I receive no emails with the database attached.

In /admin/config/system/mailsystem I am using the default Mail system. I installed www.drupal.org/project/maillog and /admin/reports/maillog lists the emails sent out by info@example.com - it shows "backup has completed successfully" emails mentioned above along with various other emails such as "New release(s) available for example.com". But there are no emails saying "database backup attached" ie it seems these emails are not being sent. Non-email destinations such as example.com/private/files/backup_migrate/scheduled work fine.

Any ideas please why the emails with database attached are not being sent out or any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Thanks...

Hi Juc2,

Just to make sure we understand the issue, so you're receiving a "backup has completed successfully" email, but not an email with the download as an attachment, is that correct?

Kind regards,
Nick

HI Juc2

There's a very high likelihood that the attached files are being stripped, possibly by a spam filter, or because they are too large.

What kind of email system are you using? Gmail? Yahoo? A private solution?

@ Steve the database is only 4MB when zipped. I am using several different email destinations using my domains such as admin@example.com (powered by Google or Microsoft) but none of the emails arrive. Is there a way to verify that these emails are actually sent? As I mentioned above other emails such as "New release(s) available for example.com" are successfully received.

Thanks...

HI Juc2,

Who are the email clients for example are you sending this from a google account to a hotmail account?

You will also have to check that your server is whitelisted to email the file Microsoft based accounts will require you to contact support and provide details of what you are doing and the ip addresses involved.

Thanks
Daniel

@ Daniel it is a system email sent from the email address given in /admin/config/system/site-information - in my case info@example.com. But re my previous post is there a way to see / verify that these emails are sent out ie some kind of log etc ?

Thanks...

Hi Juc2,

System emails can be from anywhere you should have your system email actually match an existing email account. That itself will up the trust level for sending files.

Verification of email sending. If you see no errors or warnings in drupals reports you can safely assuming they are being sent. Lots of variables in this however
how much server access do you have?
What powers the mail system?

You might want to check with your host if you do not have direct server access.

Thanks
Daniel
