Git on Windows

3 years 5 months ago #124244 by iqsafe
Git on Windows was created by iqsafe
I began to install Git on my windows platform, I am faced with three options

* Use Git from Git Bash only
* Use Git from Windows Command Prompt
* Use Git and optional Unix tools from the Windows Command Prompt

I do not know what to choose, noting that I need to use a GUI. The Git site displayed availability of GUI for download
What this has to do with the above three option. Can you please advise. Thanks

Hi iqsafe,

Please give the following lesson a try:
www.ostraining.com/class/git/installing-windows/

It will walk you through it at the 1 minute 50 second mark of the video. Afterward, it will cover the other settings too.

By the way, Brian (the instructor in the above video) recommends using "Use Git from Git Bash only" which is the safest choice.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Kind regards,
Nick
