Fatal Error on site install

Fatal Error on site install was created by ColSweeto
Getting a recurring error when trying to set up my first locally hosted site.

Installed Aquia Dev Desktop 2 and created a new Drupal 8 site. But when going through the install process I get the following fatal error right after completing the Database configuration page:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Symfony\Component\DependencyInjection\Exception\InvalidArgumentException' with message 'The service definition "renderer" does not exist.' in C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\vendor\symfony\dependency-injection\ContainerBuilder.php:796 Stack trace: #0 C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\vendor\symfony\dependency-injection\ContainerBuilder.php(440): Symfony\Component\DependencyInjection\ContainerBuilder->getDefinition('renderer') #1 C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\core\lib\Drupal.php(158): Symfony\Component\DependencyInjection\ContainerBuilder->get('renderer') #2 C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\core\includes\install.core.inc(1151): Drupal::service('renderer') #3 C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\core\includes\install.core.inc(1089): install_database_errors(Array, './sites/trainin...') #4 C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\core\includes\install.core.inc(366): install_verify_database_settings('sites/training-...') #5 C:\Users\Matthew\Sit in C:\Users\Matthew\Sites\devdesktop\training\vendor\symfony\dependency-injection\ContainerBuilder.php on line 796

Kept all the settings as they are by default except renaming the site.

Any help to understand where this is coming from would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome, ColSweeto!

Looks like a bug that they'll need to get fixed. Please make sure your database name doesn't have any hyphens or other special characters in it. That should work around the issue.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be glad to answer.

Kind regards,
Nick

I had the same problem. I figured out 2 solutions.

Go into your settings.php file and leave the database password blank. The other workaround was to download drupal core directly from the website. It wouldn't work if I did from acquia devdesktop.

Thanks steffmomo

ColSweeto, let us know if that still doesn't work after a second try.

Still get the same problem if the site and database names have no special characters including capitals. Left the password field blank and checked setting.php to make sure it was blank there too. Got one site to install properly, don't know what was different, however I'm frequently getting this error when navigating between pages:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator at admin@example.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Despite the fact I'm running locally.

Downloaded the latest drupal core and swapped in all the components except for modules, profiles, sites and themes folders. Still getting the same error.

Found a workaround on another forum ( forums.acquia.com/acquia-products-and-se...installation-failure ).

Basically using drush to install. Seems to work.

If you are here to master drupal use drush to install everything it really is a great tool.
