Anonymous - Subscribe to New Node Notices

5 years 11 months ago #118079 by BamaJohn
I seem to recall a module that allows anonymous users to subscribe to notifications for new nodes by type. My need is for Articles and we do not want to assign user names/passwords for these notices. I'm searching but so far have not found what I need...

Thanks in advance.

Found it

Total Total Subscription provides functionality which would allow the user to subscribe to node pages, taxonomy terms, etc. The main feature which distinguishes it from other subscription modules is that it allows subscription for Anonymous along with Authenticated users.

Hi BamaJohn,

Great job! That looks like a useful module indeed.

Cheers,
Nick

I got it installed but the default wording for the subscribe block is not at all what I need and the module does not provide a means to change it. I am surprised since they have several other text configuration areas for emails but not for the basic subscribe block.

Any ideas for editing the block output ?

Give www.ostraining.com/blog/drupal/change-language-strings/ a try please.

Let us know if that works for you.

Kind regards,

String Overrides - I had not thought of that in years - but it did not work with this combo of module and theme. I have used it in the past and appreciate the reminder.

I just broke down and hacked the module - it is not getting updated a lot and it is easy enough to replace a couple of text strings. I have it running and testing seems to deliver what is needed. Only thing missing in my limited experience is a direct link to the new content that caused the message to be sent.

I plan to see if Rules is picking up a condition I might use to have a few more features... Maybe collect emails via a form and write a rule to send the notices.
