Local Installation Performance

Local Installation Performance was created by tfried
Are there any best practises available for getting the local Drupal installation as fast as you have them in the videos? E.g. I experienced that under Configuration->Performance "Clear all caches" helped a lot. So I defined the expiration of cached pages to 1 hour.... Anything in MySQL to tweak for e.g. using more memory to get a better response time?

Hi and welcome, tfried!

Clearing the cache and setting the expiration date lower shouldn't boost performance. In fact, it should slow down performance.

Also, memory is not a function of MySQL (the database), but rather the web server (e.g. usually Apache). Also, higher memory allocation doesn't necessitate increased performance. Give searchservervirtualization.techtarget.co...memory-configuration a glance. Don't worry about the details of it and just skim over it. It's simply to get an idea of how memory works on the web server.

That being said, go through our Speeding Up Drupal class to improve the performance of your site:
