New Video Class: SEBLOD for Joomla

Seblod

In this week’s new Joomla class, James Morrell shows you how to build a restaurant website using SEBLOD, a content construction kit (CCK) for Joomla!.

If you need more than just a title and body for your Joomla content, then SEBOLD is a really good option.

With the help of SEBLOD, you can build complete content types and layouts while still using the Joomla content area to add your articles.

SEBLOD is used to power sites for several famous companies including General Electric and Lipton Tea.

Outline of the SEBLOD Class

 • Introduction

 • Create a List Page
 • Install and Override a Template
 • Create a Form for User Reviews

Great addition. Although Seblod is not my best CCK buddy (yet).

BTW, the video looks very blurry! Is it just an issue with the free video?

Hi pepperstreet,
This video class didn’t get made through our normal process, but it should still be high quality.
It may be your download speed.
The only way to check that is to compare it to some of our other free videos. For example, is it any different than the video here? https://www.ostraining.com/…

Can’t compare the other video. It just cosists of presentation charts… a different story with a recording of a CMS backend. I have started the Seblod video again and again… also tried fullscreen mode, which might have changed the quality. IMHO, it is too blurry.

True, on some browsers. One of the good things that Wistia does is serve different video formats to people with different browsers and connection speeds.
If you’re on an iPhone, for example, you’ll get an HTML5 video in a lower resolution.

Mmh, I tried the latest FireFox in OSX. Any chance to force a certain fileformat or even force the highest quality? (PS: I don´t like the fact that a temporary slower connection makes a decision for me)

Hi pepperstreet,
While the video is playing, right click on it, then select HD Only and it will only stream the HD version.

Browser issue or limitation.

Safari/webkit shows nice menu with quality selections! 🙂

FireFox 33 forces flash player and .FLV playback 🙁

BTW, I couldn’t buy a subscription, also had trouble with the free trial. I am going to send a email to your official support address.

The video quality was “adequate” for me. He certainly managed to get across some of the potential power and I really enjoyed his presentation – so well done.

The internal workings of Seblod seem to be based on Bootstrap version 3 so my first question is will this version work on all Joomla 3 templates?

I can not image a instance where I would not want to include a slideshow or more probably a typical image gallery of a large image with thumbnails underneath. The insertion of an image was rather rushed but is there an addon for a Gallery or does this need to be coded? If so some additional video instructions would be really helpful for use in the real world!

Thanks

Mark
