New Video Class: Introduction to jQuery

jQuery

jQuery is a Javascript library with the motto, “write less, do more”.

jQuery makes it much easier to use JavaScript on your website and so it has become hugely popular. All the major web platforms use JQuery:

  • WordPress started using jQuery in 2007, and has been using more and more Javascript.
  • Joomla 3 has ditched MooTools in favor of jQuery.
  • Drupal has shipped with jQuery in the core since Drupal 5 in 2007.

Because jQuery is so popular, it’s important to understand the basics, even if you’re not a heavy-duty coder.

In this week’s new class, Robert gives us you an introduction to this lightweight JavaScript library.
