Five years ago, on February 1st 2010, we launched the membership area here at OSTraining.

When we launched, we had no employees and only 50 videos. We were really, really grateful that many of you took a gamble on us and signed up as members.

With our fifth year anniversary here, we're fortunate to have worked with over 30,000 students; and together with you, we've published 100,000 forum posts, 2,500 videos, and 1,800 blog posts.

Command Line Class

Before there were Windows or Mac machines on your desktop, there was the command line. If you wanted to look at the directory structure of your computer or see hidden files, you could type a simple command into the terminal window.

With today's GUI interfaces, the command line may not seem as important. But if you want to manage a remote computer like a VPS or a dedicated web server, the command line can be incredibly helpful.

Update Joomla 2.5 to 3Joomla 2.5 reaches the end-of-life on December 31st, 2014.

While this doesn't mean your Joomla 2.5 website will stop working, it does mean that the Joomla project has turned its focus to Joomla 3 and updates for 2.5 will end.

In light of that, its time to consider moving your Joomla site to version 3! In this class, Rod demonstrates the steps you'll need to follow in order to update to Joomla 3.

We were there for the 3rd annual Joomla World Conference. To my knowledge, this was the first major open source conference to take place in Latin America. The whole conference was bi-lingual, with translators constantly on hand and many presentations given in Spanish.

The whole event took place at a resort on the Gulf of Mexico.

Build the Restaurant ThemeThis week's WordPress class will be very useful if you're interested in custom themes and adding functionality to plugins.

Joomla Template OverridesOver the last 3 years, we've launched nearly 40 video classes on Drupal. 

In that time, we've covered theming, site-building and almost all of the most important modules.

However, our first class from 2011 was "Drupal 7 Beginner", and that class was starting to show its age.

In the last 3 years, much has changed about Drupal 7. Some modules have been abandoned or are far less popular. Other modules have risen to become the best options for certain tasks.
