TOPIC: Transporting a site from weebly to wordpress

Transporting a site from weebly to wordpress 1 year 11 months ago #45516

Hi,

I have built a website with weebly (silly of me???) and want to get it moved to wordpress to access more functionality (memberships and user uploads etc).

HOW do I go about doing that??? I already have my own domain and am using a weebly subdomain for the other site currently.

I'm still quite new to everything so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi and welcome, Chris!

First, you'd have to get yourself new hosting or temporarily develop on your localhost. The "Install" videos of our Wordpress 3.3 Beginner class cover that material:
www.ostraining.com/courses/class/latest/wp-beginner

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to move the content over, other than to copy and paste. Here's a good article on moving from Weebly to Wordpress:
www.fleecefun.com/how-to-convert-weebly-to-wordpress.html

Once you have your content moved over and things the way you'd like them in the test site, then you can switch your domain to point to the new host using the following tutorial:
kb.weebly.com/domain-settings.html

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions :)

Kind regards,
Nick
