TOPIC: Restoring Backup

Restoring Backup 1 year 2 months ago #43807

I decided to try to move one of my websites to another server. I did a backup of the database then followed the instructions of the server to be. Things did not work out, so then I decided to bring it back to the old server.
The site became active, but apparently lost all its content.
I have installed the backup through Import on the sql. The plugins and themes are fine. I can access the phpMyAdmin, but I can't get the content back.
What have I done wrong?
The current server is Dreamhost. The proposed server was Hostgator.

Hi Madeleine,

Give our "Move A WordPress Site From Localhost To Production" tutorial a try:

Hopefully the SQL backup that you made still has the content and this tutorial will help you restore it properly. Let us know if you get stuck any any specific part and we'll be here to help.

Kind regards,
Nick
