TOPIC: multiple product categories in sidebar

multiple product categories in sidebar 1 year 1 week ago #45729

Hi,

I would like to create 2 different product categories from the same products. For example, one list of product categories is for type of product & the other category list is for product Genre. I think this would give customers double the chance of finding what they're looking for.

I am using Woocommerce with the theme Abundance. I would like to place both product categories one above the other in the shop sidebar. Is that possible?

Thanks

You can create two categories, but you might have to create two product entries.

Look in the woocommerce documentation and see what it says about assigning products to multiple categories.

Hi,

I've added many products to multiple categories & that's not a problem. I was wondering if it was possible to have 2 different product category lists. For example, 2 separate widgets in the sidebar, with completely different menus. However, both those menus are related to the same products. I don't think even adding a product a second time would allow me to create a completely different category menu.

I'm pretty certain it's not possible with Woocommerce. However, I was looking for a plugin that might allow me to do that. I can find several plugins that allow me to do all sorts of great things with post categories, but nothing for product categories.

Do you happen to know of any plugin like that. No probs if you don't as it does seem so far that it doesn't exist.

Thanks for your time

Hi Rachel,

I think you're right. I haven't heard of anything like that. Woocommerce adds a layer of complication to it as well. It might be able to be customized, but you'd have to decide if the gain would warrant the cost.
