I'm operating WP 3.4.2 Multisite.
I've installed the Master Starterbox Theme Framework and network enabled it.
It appears in all the sites as an available theme.
Next, I uploaded a sample Child Starterbox but cannot network enable it. The error message reads, "The parent theme is missing. Please install the "startbox" parent theme."
How come?

Hi spidey

Is it possible that you made a mistake with creating the child theme?

This plugin will make that much easier: www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/ne-click-child-theme/
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

Dear Steve,
That sounds interesting and I'll be trying it out as soon as I can. Will give feedback here when it's done.

Meanwhile, I wonder if in a WP multisite environment, isn't the theme in the various sites somewhat like "child themes". For example, let's say I have bought ABC theme/template and installed it through the Network Admin, and activated it for the entire network. Now, when I go to the dashboard of one of my sites on the network and start using the various options of that theme, will it affect the master installation? No, right? So in that case, do I need to install a child theme? In fact, is it possible/advisable to install a child theme in a multisite environment? Thanks!

Update: I just looked at the One-Click Child Theme plugin. It's good up to version 3.2.1. I'm on WP multisite 3.4.2. Will it hurt to try?

Hi spidey

I've used the One-Click Child Theme plugin on 3.4 myself and it worked great.

For one theme across multiple sites, if the theme is built correctly, each one should be able to control its own options.

Dear Steve,

Here's my feedback.
Yes, it installed properly in my WP Multisite 3.4.2.
Yes, it sure is convenient in helping to create the Child Theme.
And I now understand that I should use this Child Theme, if I'm to mess around with the CSS files.

Great tip! Thanks.
