Banner showing on all posts 1 year 3 weeks ago #45202

Hi,

I have installed Datafeedr Random Ads V2 & Widget Logic Visual. These have worked well mostly & I only want to use the ads in the sidebar. However, now one of the banners I'm using appears within the text of all my posts. I have no idea how this could have happened & so don't know how to cancel it.

I've tried deactivating both of the above plugins but I still get the same problem. I really don't know if this is a question any of you could answer, but I thought I'd give it a try. Is there maybe something I did to add this into the template or text of all my posts?

Thanks

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

I've never heard of this happening. Can we get a link to see it?

Hi Ed,

Trust me to find an unheard of problem! ;-)

Below are a couple of links to 2 pages that are displaying the banner ad within the text. It seems to just be happening in the same category though. Saying that, I don't have many categories on that site yet so maybe it could happen with the future categories too. I did check the other posts that had been posted in different categories prior to this problem & they don't contain the banner.

P.s. Ed,

I installed the Ultimate TinyMCE (that you helped me install) onto another site. I went through the process, but there were a few differences. I couldn't get the customs style (Italic red etc), so I went to the site & bought that. It only came with the codes for a couple of options though. I wrote to the guy that made it & he said he's currently working on tutorial for that.

None of that is a problem, but I did wonder how it came about that I had all the settings on the other site? Have there been changes to that plugin since you installed it possibly? Or did you set all that up for me?

Just curious as I can't work it out ;-)

Thanks again for that one!

I don't know about the custom codes in the plugin. But you're in touch with the developer. He would be the best resource. I was just trying to solve your initial problem and didn't look at the custom codes.

Your banner problem is strange to me. I look at the code and it's got backslashes in it.

I can't figure out where this is coming from. I'm going to ask the team to take a look since I haven't encountered this before.

Have you looked at the article and do you have any short code in it that should be deleted?

Ed

Hi Ed,

It must be something I've done. I disactivated the banner ad plugins but it still happens, so I don't think they're the route of the problem (but I could well be wrong). I have had a look at the articles but there aren't any added codes or anything. Plus it's happening to all the new articles.

I will continue playing around with it & will let you know if there are any changes.

Thanks a lot for your help

Rachel

Try resetting your plugins by renaming the plugin folder.
Access your admin
Then put your plugin folder name back to the original.

Whatever it is seems to have started with those plugins.

Should I do that via my Host's control panel? Find the plugin folder there & rename it? Sorry but I don't really understand the process you're describing there?

Thanks

Yes use your control panel file manager or FTP.

Renaming it forces WP to check all the plugins and then re-establish them. So if something is stuck in cache that's causing a problem it gets cleared out.
