Greetings,

What would be the way or steps, to create a BuddyPress compatible theme localization? Been trying hard to juggle with the [Frisco for BuddyPress] theme...

kind Regards,

Hi and welcome, Anticosti!

Give the Codestyling Localization plugin a try:
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/codestyling-localization/

Hope this helps! :)

Kind regards,
Nick

Cool Nick :)
It does what I need and even more than awaited.

Side note:
I noticed some problems with the output for BuddyPress info generated by this view:
wp-admin/tools.php?page=codestyling-localization/codestyling-localization.php

In Drupal: Using Localization client in combo with Localization update you can edit much faster and it is not so overwhelming ;-)
This issue is one of the few irritants that makes me hesitate to fully jump into WordPress ;-)

Kind Regards,
BTW: Great Support! Kudos!

forgot to ask...
When you edit a Plugin's language file, how can you make sure the file will not get overwrited or deleted by the plugin upgrade process.

Kindly,

Hi Anticosti,

You might be interested in these tutorials if you haven't read them yet,

www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/multi-lingual-wordpress/
www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/language-strings-wordpress/

But to answer your question the language files for each language will not be part of a core upgrade. You can also preserve changes by using a child theme and keeping the language files separated from the core files.

Cheers,
Ed

Ed, thank you for pointing me to these tutorials.
Will study and certainly will be able to clearly understand the mechanics ;-)

Much appreciated,
