Where is my READ MORE button? 1 year 3 weeks ago #47077

Hi all,

I have Read More plugin enabled but can't find it. I have tried to search for a place where you need to activate it in settings, config, etc. but can't find it. Any Idea what I am doing wrong? [using JCE]

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,

Could you try it in an Article in Article Manager to see if it works in there?

Kind regards,
Nick

Good observation Nick. In fact I CAN see the Read More Button on the Article page, but not on the HikaShop Product page. According to one of their tutorials I should be able to see and use it.

thanks

Hi Scott,

Not clear if that solved your problem or not. Let us know for sure.

Cheers,

No, I still have a situation where I can now only see Read More button on Article pages. I can not see this button on:
Category add/edit page
HikaShop Product add/edit page
HikaShop Category add/edit page

HikaShop tutorial clearly shows it being used on both HS product and HS category pages

I might not clearly understand this plugin. Shouldn't the button always be available on the text editor? However, Description on plugin says this:

Enables a button which allows you to easily insert the Read more... link into an Article.

Is there a setting in the configuration of the plugin to determine where it is visible - if so I can not find it? Maybe there is a separate readmore plugin specific for HikaShop?

Also, I set editor back to tinyMC and I have same results as above. Any help appreciated

Scott

Hi Scott,

I don't have Hika shop set up so I can't confirm this for you. But I believe Hika shop does have it's own setting for the readmore button.

Unless the plugin is actually using the Joomla Articles, it can have separate editing controls.

The plugin that allows the readmore in the plugin manager needs to be enabled.

You should check with Hika shop. They know it best and there could be a bug that they already have a fix for.

Hi

Instead of me creating a new post about this "read more" missing, I'll post my question here.

I do not have hikashop.

I'm using Joomla 2.5.4 and I am not able to see my "read more" button in my single article. I've read conflicting posts through my search on Google about this issue. I would prefer the experts here explain why i am not able to get the "read more" for Joomla 2.5.4 on a single article to work.

I do have it enabled in my article <hr id="system-readmore" /> and I do have:
Show "Read More" set to Show
Show Title with Read More set to Show
Read More Limit set to 20

thanks

Hi
The "Read More" link only works in a Blog type layout.

Hi joomlajr,

Read more buttons are used in Category blog layouts, however if you're just using a single article, it won't appear.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick/Mark

Is this new to Joomla 2.5.4 because in 1.5 I was able to do this...now thinking I've lost my mind :)

Hi joomlajr,

In 1.5 it was not possible either :) Remember that single articles appear in category blog layouts and so that's when the read-more is used.

Kind regards,
Nick
