What does "PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETELY REMOVE THE INSTALLATION FOLDER" mean? 9 months 4 days ago #54521

I am trying to set up a website (www.alientodevida.pe), and when I go to the site, it says,

"PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETELY
REMOVE THE INSTALLATION FOLDER.
You will not be able to proceed beyond this point until the installation directory has been removed. This is a security feature of Joomla!."

I don't know which file to delete. Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi Johnmarkandtara,

Welcome to OSTraining! :-)

The installation folder is there for when you first go into your Joomla site, it automatically installs Joomla for you.

On older versions of Joomla, you have to manually delete the installation folder. It should be located in the root of your Joomla site. If you feel safer, you could just rename the "installation" folder instead.

What Joomla version are you using may I ask?
Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero

Hi Johnmarkandtara,

It looks like some part of the installation failed. Try reinstalling the site and see if it works.

How did you install the site originally? did you manually install it or did you use a service on your hosting cpanel to install it?

Cheers,
Ed
