Hello I have created weblinks and they are published but they don´t seam to appear. What should I check?

As for weblinks, aside from being published, they also need to be approved.

Have you checked your phpmyadmin j o s _ weblinks table to see if the column "Approved" is all '1'?

Here is a sql statement to approve all links at once:

(No spaces, editor won't allow me to type that without spaces)
Where "j o s" is the prefix of your database tables.

Hello Tessa I didn´t know about this in joomla 1.5 I could just create the links and that was it.
I never did touch anything in the databse so please describe step by step where and what I have to do. How do I get to this table? where do I have to write the sql comand

I mean I got 2.5.4 running but weblinks still didn´t work. I did go through your tutorial and all was clear. It only shows how to make a menu with the choosen web links but I though the web links should show also authomaticly in the text of the articles. I mean if I make a weblink called sport then all words sport in the text should show linke isn´t it? well not one link is activated in my web page

From your description I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. Are you using the core web links in Joomla?

Yes Ed I am using the core web links that come with joomla

The thing is the tutorial shows how to make a menu showing the created links but what I wanted is the links to work like in wikipedia. That is if I created a weblink called options then everytime the word `options´ appear in my text it is authomaticly linked.

The type of keyword linking to web links is slightly different from the core web links component.

You would need a plugin "add on" to make this work.

I don't see that extension in the JED. The link in the tutorial goes to an early version, and it doesn't show there are any updates. But there are a lot of other possibilities. Check this page.

Hello Tessa thanks for selecting the right extension as the list provided by Ed was quite long and some where commercial progams. The thing is that I did install the plugin you recomened me (not the module) and did activate it but the whole still doesn´t work. Any idea?

Hi Mike,

If you're using the plugin, you need to insert the plugin tag within your articles. If you go to your plugin in plugin manager and edit it, there should be directions within there for the plugin tags.

Wow so in each article I want links I need to insert the tag? This is very tiresome! in joomla 1.5 this option used to much easier and authomatic. Is there a reason it hasn´t been given much importante? could it be linking articles isn´t so usefull anymore?
Does anyone in your team know something more easy to use?
Ed do you know if the commercial option you do propose needs to insert tags in the articles?

The extension Ed suggests will dynamically update your weblinks. I highly recommend you try it out. :-)

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure, since this is practically your only option to choose from, I'd recommend trying it out and seeing if it is what you are looking for. Sometimes I will try 3-4 different extensions of the same type to see if it really is something I'm looking for. :-)
