Installed WampServer on my PC. However, when I try to start all services, it won't get past the orange icon status.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Thanks!

Hi Ptt87, welcome to OSTraining! :-)

Do you have another program using port 80? Such as WAMP? If so, turn that off, then restart WAMP, then turn your other programs back on.

Warm Regards,

Thanks for the quick reply Tessa!

To be honest, I have no idea if something else is using port 80. Excuse the ignorance, but is there an easy way to find out?

Ptt87,

Go to the Wamp Icon at the bottom > Apache > Service > Test Port 80.

What does it say?

Also are you logged in as administrator?

Do you have a firewall blocking this port?

It says its being used by "Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5"

Yes administrator; no firewall.

Okay, so your port is being used by IIS, you need to reconfigure your port for Wamp.

Wamp Icon > Apache > httpd.conf
Change:
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

To, something like:

#Listen 12.34.56.78:8080
Listen 8080

Restart All Services

Go to http://localhost:8080 and see if that works?

That worked - thanks!

Is there a way to ensure that it uses the 8080 address whenever I select localhost from the Wamp icon?

Hi ptt87,

I had to do the same thing once.

Once you save the file, the changes should stick.

Hope this helps!
