Hi,

The VM2 shopping cart page is spread out and I wanted to tighten it up by placing module positions into it. I'm using the Joomla template "SparkStore." However, I don't understand where to access the "Show Cart" page on the back-end. When I create a module for it there is no menu assignment to choose from (a selected page check box setting at bottom of module area). It appears that the Cart is not a module that can be easily manipulated.

Also, I created a menu tab on my top (main) menu which called out the shopping cart but then realized that both that menu tab I created and the "show cart" button at the top of the page had different paths. The menu tab shows "option=com_virtuemart&view=cart" and the top cart button shows "option=com_virtuemart&view=cart&Itemid" .

There is also a "Continue Shopping" link on the Cart page that I need to point to a different area but I don't know where to change this either. I would like it to take you to the last place you were instead of to the product category page. Is Cart all in PHP code?

Can you help me with this?

Thanks.

Joomlad

Hi and welcome, Joomlad!

Let's cover the first issue within this discussion. Would you open up separate forum topics for each of the other issues? Thanks in advance!

OK, for the first issues, could we get a link to the page to take a quick look? Do you have an example of what you're trying to do (e.g. a screen shot, a similar site, etc)?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I've attached two files; cart-top, cart-menu to help in this discussion. The site is still being developed so it is currently offline.

The Cart-top image shows VM's cart page. I have no idea where this page is pulled in from. I believe it is all PHP code.

The Cart-menu image shows the VM's cart I created in a top menu link through the Menu Manager. I created this menu item to show what I want the "cart-top" page to look like. However, the "cart-top" is not linked to the template (nor is it a module) so I cannot add images to positions or manipulate the page from within Joomla that I know of.

What do I need to do to get "cart-top" to look like "cart-menu?"

The other "Continue Shopping" link issue is actually tied in with this same problem. You can see this link on both attached images. I simply wanted to know where I can change this physical link.

Thank you for your concern and responsiveness!

Hi Joomlad,

I took a look at the demo site for this template. The things you are trying to change are part of Virtuemart and this specific template, not necessarily part of Joomla. This is third party template and we don't have a copy of it.

Hopefully, when you purchased the template club membership it came with some support. We'll try to guide you, but you should also seek support from the template club. We don't support third party products ostraining.com/support-faq

To make the some of the changes you want, you will need to find the template in the virtuemart directory. There will be a views folder - components/com_virtuemart/views and the templates are in a sub folder called tmpl. See the screenshot.

I'm not sure how the template is built. It appears to be a grid system so it probably has it's own controls for positions.

If you have Firebug, it will help you track down css changes you want to make. We have a couple of tutorials if you need help.

Ed

Thanks for your help, Ed!

I worked with Firebug and CSS and eventually got it figured out by tweaking a few component settings here and there. It is extremely difficult to pull information out of the VirtueMart forum moderators. For some reason they expect one to find all the answers by doing a search in their forum. Unfortunately, with unique questions, it can be hard to formulate a search to do this. I was also told they wouldn't answer one of my VM questions because they had already answered it "twenty" times. I thought this a little high and mighty on their part. I wondered who would pay for their upgrade version with an attitude like that...oh well.

Anyway, thanks for your time, effort, and going above and beyond. This is looking like a great place to learn Joomla(+).

Mostly the VM guys are volunteers. Sometimes computer geeks just don't remember what it was like in the beginning. Don't be too hard on them :)

Glad we could help you out. We can't always answer third party questions, but if we do know an answer or at least where to look for one, we'll always give it a try.

Glad you're with us. Look forward seeing you in the forum.

Cheers,
Ed
