I don't expect anyone to walk be through this by hand, but I've searched every Kunena site and Kunena template site looking for instructions or documentation on how to configure/set up a Kunena page/template within a site. I have come up with nothing. Could someone point me to an appropriate resource? Kunena is probably the most important application in our site.

If I need to just buy something, or finish the HTML, CSS, and template courses and create my own from scratch, please just tell me that. I have wasted a lot of time looking for a cheap way to do this and I am very frustrated.

Thanks,

Allen Ross

Hi Allen,

Don't worry, we're here to help.

Kunena's documentation is available at:
docs.kunena.org/index.php/Main_Page

Would you clarify your dilemma more please?

When you state:Allen wrote:

Do you mean how to basically get Kunena working on the site or how to create a custom design for it?

Looking forward to helping.

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks, Nick,

I want to avoid any custom work at this point in my adventure; I just want the users to select the discussion board from the main menu (or another menu if that is a problem) and after entering their Kunena login credentials, have access to all parts of the BB appropriate to their ACLs.

I'll try the link you cited above, but to date I have been underwhelmed by what Kunena calls documentation.

Thanks again,

Allen

Nick,

I neglected to mention that I will use either a template that comes with Kunena, or another recommended one with or without integration with Joomla! 2.5.

Hi Allen,

You're welcome! Let us know if we can be of help.

By the way, here's what I'd suggest as a general rule of thumb for setting up a component:
1) Install
2) Go to Components >> select your component
3) Click on its options (top right) >> configure as many of them as you can.
4) Then go through each of the component tabs one-by-one and set up as much of it as you can.
5) Go to Menus >> your menu >> create a new menu item of your component type.
6) Preview in the front-end, then go back into the settings and fine-tune them as you'd like them.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

I hoping the previous post was deleted before anyone tried to read it I am attaching the Kunena config file, rather than pasting it as before.

I submitted the following question to the Kunena forum, but I am not a paying customer yet, so I am not sure how timely the response will be. I thought I would post it here just in case someone looking at and the attached config file might see an obvious error or omission and could say "here is the problem, stupid1" And I really don't mind being call stupid at this point!

I have installed Kunena, set up my users and categories. When I am in the Kunena component and hit preview, I get a basically blank page that tells me I am not logged in (I'm logged into J! as superuser.) and tells me to log in, but the module to login does not appear. I erase all the menu items that I tried to point Kunena. When I click on "Create menu" in the Kunena component, it just brings me back to the same Kunena component page. I am pasting my Kunena Configuration date below. Can someone please help me or point me to a hitherto undiscovered documentation? The Wiki page on installation and configuration is not really helpful. As I said, the configuration file is attached. Thanks!
