hello all!

after doing lots of humming and umming, i have finally found a theme that works nearly exactly how i want. except its wordpress. i know its sacrilegious, but the thing is a beauty. richwebtemplates.com/preview19/

my question to you guys is how do transfer my articles to wordpress?

also, my site is a user generated blog that utilizes easyblog extension. is there any way to transfer my bloggers info as well, or does that have to be done manually?

Hi Scott

Before going through all the hassle of migrating, have you considered finding a very similar design in Joomla:

joomla25-templates.joomlart.com/ja_wall/
joomla25-templates.joomlart.com/ja_lens/
joomla25-templates.joomlart.com/ja_elastica/
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

yea im pretty set on using wordpress. i have been talking to a web developer friend of mine who said it would serve my needs much better.

i have been using two plugins trying to get my articles on wordpress, but for some reason i have only been able to transfer over user info....it wont transfer over specific joomla categories. they literally dont appear.

Hi Matt

Sorry, we don't do work for people here, only help them learn how: www.ostraining.com/support-faq/

It might well be that the plugin above only worked with Joomla 1.5. That's when I tested it and wrote the tutorial.

One option could be to export the content from Joomla into an Excel or CSV file and then import it into WordPress. Keeping the category structure might be tricky, but the content should import smoothly.

Hi Matt

Not already written, but an extension like this should do the job: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migrati...mport-a-export/19745

This is talking about exporting from a component. It will work for regular articles as well?

Hmmm ... mixed feedback on that: www.csvimproved.com/index.php?option=com...&id=26831&Itemid=153

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid this might be the only other option:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/migrati...mport-a-export/15718

Hi Matt

It's not as simple as that I'm afraid.

That extension will export the content in .XML format which can't easily be cut-and-pasted into Joomla.

You can try to import it with Tools > Import > and then the RSS or even WordPress options.
