I saw the blog post about share this plugin, but that plugin is not for 2.5 joomla. There are many other plugins available, can't decide which one to choose. Any suggestions?

Also, I am debating about creating my own menu bar for this purpose. I have a menu bar already but that is a link to our pages for face book and twitter. Now I want to create the like and tweet button for some articles. Any suggestions on the best way of doing that.

Also, what is the convention for placing these icons, at the bottom of the article or the top? I saw in the blog post the bar was right in the article next to the heading. How was that done.

You mentioned there were several to choose from, but not sure which:

The best way to find the extension you'd prefer most is go into each, skim through some reviews, and view the demo on each one until you find what seems to fit your site the most. They all do practically the same thing but each looks different.

It would probably be a lot easier and quick to use an extension rather than code your own social buttons. But that is definitely up to your preference.

As for button placement, it really depends on how much room you have on your page, how your page is laid out, and where it would look best at. :-) Are you trying to give users the capability of "sharing" each article to their social media sites?

yes we want them to share the article, like it, tweet it, the basic stuff.

I don't have any statistics to back this up, but on our site those links are near the top. On some of my other sites, I noticed that I got better activity when they were at the top.

Personally, when I read an article, I pretty much stop reading when it's over and don't really pay attention to tweet icons at the bottom But when they are at the top, I can't ignore them. But that's just me.

Of course you could put them in more than one place if it's not too cluttered.

can you tell me in the tutorials which extension is used for the three button social feedback module. There is one in tutorial for backing up the site using akeeba. I want that just simple module. Is that an extension or a custom module?

Sorry I can't give you a specific recommendation. There are so many of these it would take quite a bit of research to try them all out. And they are all new and upgraded for 2.5 so I haven't had a lot of experience with them yet.
