I have a private country club website and I want to add a networking and event calendar extension for my members. I've been looking at jevents and jomsocial. Jomsocial offers the ability to sign up for events, see who else is attending an event, and generally would provide a perfect networking platform for my members, however, I don't want my members to feel that they are part of a social network site, per se. Jevents alone does not seem to accomplish the networking features I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

Hi Quincy,

What Joomla version are you using? What type of networking features are you looking for?

Kind regards,
Nick

1.5.25 I want members to be able to see a calendar of events, register for events, and see who else has signed up for particular events. (It doesn't appear that in Jevents you can see who else has signed up for an event, unless it is combined with Jomsocial) I want members to be able to communicate with one another, so, for instance, a member can post that they are looking for a game Saturday morning. So there might be a 'looking for a game?' section. That sort of thing. I also need the ability to monitor and remove posts.

Hi Quincy,

Is this registration for events going to require a payment system as well?

Then check this out:

joomlashowroom.com/event-registration-pro-calendar.html

For non payment registration, check out joomlacache.com

So, I found this: support.jomsocial.com/index.php?/Knowled...ny-part-of-jomsocial

This may be what I'm looking for? To be able to use Jomsocial but within a completelyl private context.

HI Quincey,

That sounds like it will work for you. You might want to also search the Joomla Extensions Directory for room reservations, appointment booking and conference scheduling. Many of the features of those also would be similar as they include calendars, schedules, sign ups and user lists.
