Site not rendering properly in IE 8 or 9 10 months 2 weeks ago #50566

Hi,

I'm having a problem with the menu not rendering properly, also the module toward the bottom is not even showing. It looks fine in google and mozilla...

Hi D,

The top menu looks fine for me in IE 8 and 9; however, the bottom module doesn't appear.

In IE click on the settings Gear (below the X in the top right) then go to Developer Tools. That will bring out a debugger similar to Firebug that you can use to debug the module.

Kind regards,
Nick

Really? To me, the top menu appears like "login and contact" it's too big and being pushed down to the second line!

Later: Okay, I did debug, and the module bottom pix and text are now rendering. Great, but now what to do about the general public? Apparently the module wasn't showing in your browser either, so what must I do to the template? I can't instruct all site visitors to debug first lol.. thx :) ...d.

*also: the debug didn't seem to impact the navigation menu...

Hi D,

Glad you made some progress! :)

OK, so the key question is what did you do debugging to fix the issue? Just make those same changes in your template's css. That will make the changes permanent for everyone.

Kind regards,
Nick

I only made temporary progress by doing what you told me to do! Otherwise, it's not reflecting that any change was made. I just went back and followed the same steps, but now it doesn't work. I just went to tools>developer>script>debugging.

This isn't working for me, any ideas? There's also the problem with the menu, it's not rendering properly either, the Login and Contact is pushed over on to the next line.. it looks really big for some reason compared to firefox and chrome.

Hi Media,

Will you do me a favor and test this on other PC's/computers on IE?

I have been looking at your site on all browsers for your menu and I cannot replicate what you are seeing on IE (7-9) for some reason.

I'd like to know what is causing your issue as well.

I'm sure you've done this already, but have you already cleared your sites' browser/joomla cache? :-)
Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero

This is what it looks like on my two computers, using two types of IE, chrome and mozilla. See the image below.

Hi D,

The first picture shows what I see in IE. The second one shows what I see in chrome.

In IE I can see all the pictures in the gallery except for one. You're not getting any pictures at all. I suspect the problem is in the actual Javascript for this extension. You could check the entry that doesn't show up and see if there are stray characters or something in the description that could be making IE behave differently. Slim chance but it doesn't hurt to check.

Otherwise I'd say this isn't a Joomla problem, but one with the template and in particular that script. You'll have to actually change the script to operate properly in IE. Have you checked with the developer of the template? Are you using the latest version of it? There may be an update to fix this.

Cheers,
Ed

Did you happen to check the menu items by chance?

The top menu is pushing two of the menu items down to the next line on IE for me... The menu looks fine in Chrome and Mozilla...

I am very surprised to see that IE is even showing this many pix for you in IE, I can't see it on either my desktop computer or laptop../ one has IE8, the other IE9. Thanks for trying. I contacted the developer to figure out what's going on:)...d.

Hi D,

I've been off for a couple of days. Hadn't checked the menu, but I just did and it seems to be displaying just fine. IE screenshot attached.

How strange that it doesn't seem to be rendering properly for me, ugh.. mystery, I guess. Thanks for the effort:) Anyway, can you just take down the image for me. I just didn't want the organization so visible. thanks much...d.

This is indeed a strange one. When they are inconsistent like this, it makes it tough to figure out. If I can figure anything out I will let you know.

Cheers,
Ed
