Guys,

I have a client who has a J1.5 site, hosted on some server which has an ancient looking interface, and no cPanel or File Manager per se. There is "click to add php", "click to add a form", it all looks so ancient. I did not develop the site, and the developer has gone. The client only has log ins for the ftp - filezilla etc- (which are correct); and his /administrator is wrong ( for Joomla admin ).

Given that all we have access to is the ftp, using ( in my case ) "Transmit", is there a way to create a super admin user in Joomla 1.5, so that I can instal Akeeba and get him to a new host, and onto J2.5? Remember, we cannot get to the "databases" the same way you can using cPanel.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi daBro,

In 15 years I have never had to deal with a server that didn't have phpMyAdmin on it.

Would you be able to install phpMyAdmin? www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php
Do you know who the hosting company is? Can they give you any support?

Second suggestion would be to check with Hostgator for hosting. They have a service for moving a site from another hosting account. That may cost you $50 but save you hours of wrestling with an out of date server.

Look up the url at whois.sc or betterwhois.com and see if you can discover the hosting company.

Let me know what you find out.
