TOPIC: Relocate Module in Bolt Template

Relocate Module in Bolt Template 1 year 1 month ago #44190

Hi there,

I've been stewing over which template to use- Bolt or Beez20 in natural. With my limited experience, each template has pluses and negatives.

I've opted to go with Bolt. I simply love it- very peppy!

One of the things I would like to do is move the left column to the right side for usage on certain pages.

I did find an article explaining the Bolt layout i.e.)columns, but it didn't seem to apply in my case.

Would someone point me the right direction on how to move the right column to the left side.

Thanks,

Vineyardseashell

Hi Vineyardseashell,

If I understand you correctly, there's not a need to do that. The Bolt template has both right and left module positions. Check out the following tutorial to see how to find all the module positions that are available:

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions! :)

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I do understand where all the module positions are.

I traditionally use rocket theme of Joomlart templates, where they have built-in, easy to understand ways to change the features of your template; I am kind of at a loss using a bare bones template, but opted to step outside of template clubs, so I can learn more.

For the majority of pages on my site, the layout I would like to have is:

Main column | Right1 (small) column | Right2 (large) column

So that I can choose to use either/or right1 or right2 depending upon the module i.e.) 300x250 banner ad versus a 120x600 banner ad, I want to place in the column.

Thanks,

Vineyardseashell

Hi Vineyardseashell,

Ah OK, yes, that's a different issue. The template is designed as left, main, right and can't be changed without modifying the template code.

We have a template design class, an HTML class, a CSS class, and a PHP class available to you as part of your subscription. Going through those should give you more than enough knowledge to make those types of modifications:

Another invaluable tool is Firebug:

After hearing all that, what are your thoughts?

Kind regards,
Nick
