We just upgraded our site to Joomla 2.5. Everything is good except that our zoo component is very slow. To open the frontpage of zoo can take 30-60 seconds. It is really long to open items also.

The rest of the site is very fast except when we try save any modules, it takes about 20 seconds to save. The rest of the backend is normal.

We posted it on Yootheme and tried the few suggestions but nothing works.

= We've increased the memory
- joomla's global configuration is msqli
- disabled all the new plugins installed to make sure it was not a conflict with any of them.

Anyone has an idea what can cause this?

Hi Marchy,

Try disabling your non-core system plugins one-by-one to see if one of them is the cause. Keep track of which ones you disable (so that you can re-enable them later) and reload the page each time to check if the speed improved.

What specific version of Joomla 2.5 are you using? 2.5.what? Also, what version of Zoo are you using?

Kind regards,
Nick

Thanks Nick, it is all the updated version of both. Joomla 2.5.6 and zoo 2.5.20.

I will go over each plugin of them one by one.

I went through all of them and it still does not work. I did not install too much plugins and component to avoid conflict until we solved the problem.

Any other idea?

Hi Marchy,

I was having this problem with one of my sites. It turned out to be an add on in the browser that was not functioning. It was a security add-on from Symantec that encrypted passwords. It just didn't work right.

Since the rest of the site seems to work and you do have a problem uploading modules, you might want to look at your browser add-ons. In my case, I had to actually uninstall it. Just disabling it didn't seem to work.

Does it seem slow from other computers as well? How about other browsers?

Ed

Have you tried to fix your database?

Look in media manager for warnings and for database errors.

Also consider doing a database fix from phpMyAdmin or cPanel.

You can try to run the pages through some speed checkers and see if they show you something.

gtmetrix.com - test the speed of any page.
www.webpagetest.org - Run a free website speed test from multiple locations around the globe using real browsers (IE and Chrome) and at real consumer connection speeds.

I'll ask the rest of the team if they have any ideas.

We'll watch for your new post. Glad we got the database fixed anyway.

Cheers,
Ed
