I've installed Joomla v2.5 locally on my Win 7 64-bit machine to train myself on how to create a Joomla web site. Following the instructions in Chapter 5 of the Joomla Explained book, I selected Media Manager, clicked Options and selected "Yes" next to the "Enable flash uploader" setting and saved. However, the image uploader still doesn't give me the option to upload multiple files at once. Do I have to shut down and restart my WAMP server for the setting to take effect?

Hi and welcome, Amethyst!

You should be able to now select multiple files and drag them into the uploader. Give it a try and see it works for you.

Kind regards,
Nick

I'm still only able to upload a single file at a time (refer to the attachment). Can you be more specific about where I should be multiple image files from desktop to in the Upload files screen in Media Manager?

Hi Amethyst,

After enabling the multiple upload feature you should see the controls at the bottom of the media manager window. I attached a screen shot. Are you seeing these controls?

Let us know,
Ed

No, I don't see those controls at all. After enabling the multiple upload feature, nothing changed with the controls. I restarted WAMP on my local machine, but that didn't help either.

Hi Amethyst,

I apologize, the drag and drop feature is part of JCE ( www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/jce/ ) flash uploader rather than Joomla's core flash uploader. In Joomla's core uploader, you actually have to click the "Browse Files" button each time and select a file, then upload them.

The controls are right below the files. I attached a bigger screenshot so you can get a context. Does that help or are you still not seeing it?

If you're not seeing it, what steps have you done so far? Did you enable the options within Media Manger's options (top right)?

Kind regards,
Nick

I installed JCE without issue, made it my default editor in Site - Global Configuration, and I made sure that the Media Manager option for "Enable flash uploader" was set to "Yes" and saved. I'm still not seeing the additional controls that should be available in the "Upload files" section in Media Manager as you show in your last screen shot.

Is there another plug-in I should install or configuration settings I need to change? I'm also wondering if this is problem is associated with a localhost install of Joomla as I've done vs. a typical webserver install of Joomla???

If you're not seeing them at all there could be some problem with the Joomla installation or the JCE installation. You could try uninstallting JCE and re-installing it.

You could also try to reinstall Joomla or create another installation and see if that one works.

There isn't anything in settings and configuration that can make those appear if there was some type of corruption when the files were uncompressed.

See if a different install gives the same results.
