Regarding the Pre installation check in joomla 2.5.6

Top box is fine, but on the recommended settings, a couple are red. On his tutorial Ed says not to hold up the installation because of them.

To be safe(er), I looked through the tutorial on fixing recommended settings, but the ones that are red on my installation aren't listed.

Settings that are red:

Safe mode
Magic Quotes GPC

Are these ever likely to cause problems? Need a fix, or just go ahead?
