I wasn't able to see a thread for this, anyway, very impressed with the os downloads component but we have a query. Using the latest version 1.0.6. I have a query regarding one of the option namely the

Email [tick box] Show email only [tick box] Require email

Questions

My interpretation of this is if you don't enable show email only then any additional fields in the mailchimp list would display? if im wrong how do i add more fields if yes e.g. name If so this doest work.

Also Possible Bug

Also after creating a download, if i go back into the download and un tick the 'Show Email Only' and re-save, if i then go back in again, it hasn't changed saved the change.

the issue is in the backend of the site,see attachment

also i seem to be getting a 'wrong email' error when attempting to test the forms from the front end. (I can send a screenshot if required)

OK, looks like that text/option was added in the latest version and after updating, I see it now. I'm going to check with our senior developer as I'm not sure what it does and it doesn't appear to change anything. He'll likely be able to check it Monday morning. It doesn't, however, have anything to do with the additional fields in the MailChimp list.

Sorry about the issue! It looks like a bug with our preg_match function. I've gone ahead and implemented a temporary solution and I'll check with our senior developer as to a permanent solution with the next version.

the temporary fix, now means anyone can download the file without the need of entering an email address???? the client informed us of this during a preview session, and now our client isn't happy, for reasons you can understand im sure, and with this bug and the lack of being able to add additional fields makes the solution sadly not what we had hoped for.

Will keep an eye on the component for future use.

the show email only is now fixed.

the additional fields, basically if it were possible for say for example a name field to be included in the form,

so 'email address' plus 'first name' 'last name'

which would then sync with mail chimp list. this would make this solution excellent.

We can do the same kind of thing using a form solution but the set-up time is far greater.

Hi Alex,

In your site there are some Javascript errors which are not related to OSDonwloads.

For example:
ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined
var $K2 = jQuery.noConflict();

ReferenceError: MenuMatic is not defined
var myMenu = new MenuMatic({

The above Javascript errors affect our OSDownloads and results in the preg_match not working correctly.

The first error is from K2 so make sure it's updated to the latest version. The second one is from Menu Matic:

Make sure it's updated too.

I'm also getting the wrong email error.
I'm using a clean joomla installation (local installation on XAMP, cause i'm still building my site)

Since it didn't work for me
I thought on using this component in a fresh joomla 3.0 installation.
But it seems the component isn't ready for joomla 3.0
Are there any plans for adapting it for joomla 3?

Yes, almost certainly. We've a few extensions to move to Joomla 3 and OSDownloads will be one of them.

I gave it a new try using joomla 2.5.7.
Still no luck getting it to work:

Any idea on when the version for joomla 3 will be released.
I have to rebuild my site after a hacker did his part.
And I don't know if I should use 2.5 or if i'ld make the jump to version 3

I also had to set error reporting off in php.ini (since i'm testing locally) and for the moment this works.

Will i get a message when the new or fixed extension is out?
