I want to enable users to sign up to my page and decide to which usergroup they belong to. According to the user group they will have access to different kinds of information. The reason why is that i am having a couple of free programms on my page which are customed designed for either woman or man. So i want them to decide if they want the programm for woman or the programm for man. Does anybody know any extension who could do that for me?

Hi GymJam,

Try this and see if it is something that may work.

extensions.joomla.org/extensions/extensi...ial-extensions/13228

For a list of more possibilities try this search in the JED extensions.joomla.org/search?q=group

Let us know if this will help.

Cheers,
Ed

Hi and welcome to OSTraining, GymJam

Could you talk us through this a bit more:

1) Are you going to be using a specific extension to hold this information?
2) Are you going to use Joomla's normal access control levels to handle the users?
3) Will people need to pay for access?
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

1. i dont have a specific extension in mind to hold this information, so if you have any suggestions i would be delighted to hear them. I am planning to integrate a newsletter sign up with AcyMailing so whether they are male or female they get newsletters and information accourding to their user level.

2. I was planning to set up 2 User groups like first Female, second Male. Or do you know any extensions which would make that proccess easier?

3. No they will not pay for that specific programm. I am using akeeba subs for commercial material but those programms are for free :)

Hi and welcome, GymJam!

Since you're using Akeeba Subscriptions already, I'd recommend sticking with it and to set up "free" subscriptions for the different access levels. Then the user could just pick the subscription level that they'd like, male or female.

Would that work well for you?

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi GynJam,

They implemented ACY mailing integration in version 2.0 and the current version is 2.2. So as long as you are using 2.0 or newer, the feature is available.

Check their documentation for how to do it.

Cheers,
Ed
