Hi guys,

Is anyone aware of an extension that will allow me to share users between 2 sites that are running different versions of Joomla (one site is running j25, the other is running a modified version (anahita) of J15)?

I would like users to be able to test the new site (and provide feedback) before migrating to the newer site.

Hi Chaimk,

Not so sure about sharing users because of the different versions. I've never tried that. There is an extension for user sharing:
www.ijoomla.com/blog/one-set-of-joomla-u...ple-joomla-installs/

Another alternative is you may be able to export your users from one version, and import them into a new version. You can find some extensions here:
extensions.joomla.org/search?q=export+users

Will either of these work?

Cheers,
Ed

That is the reason why I asked ;)

The blog post that you posted will not help me as I am using different versions of Joomla. From the little "poking around" that I did, it seems that there are significant differences between the 2 versions.

Option 2 won't really work, as i want it to be seamless for the users.

Do you have any other ideas?

Chaim

thanks for the suggestion; I am not sure if that will work for all my users, as they might not have signuped with their FB accounts.

Worst case scenario, I will let users know to contact us if they are interested in trying out the new site.

Hi Chaim,

Give jFusion and JMS Multisites a look:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...ication-bridges/3723
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/core-en.../multiple-sites/5550

Both allow the sharing of users. jFusion will likely be able to share between a 1.5 and 2.5 site and I'm not sure about JMS Multisites, however with both it's best to contact the developers and double check to be sure.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick
