Hi sarvam

Does this happen no matter what type of item you try to select or does it happen with only one type of item?
Ask. We'll help. It's as simple as that.

Hi Sarva,

This is really a strange issue. Please try reinstalling your Joomla core version using the following tutorial (same thing applies for 2.5):
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-up...min-tools-extension/

Hopefully that will reset everything for you. Let us know if it works or not.

Kind regards,
Nick

Sorry, but this phrase is not understandable. Could you try again?
after i used joomla core component from that time its not working

Can you explain this a little more? What joomla core component were you trying to use?

Did you take Nick's suggestion and re-install Joomla using the Akeeba Admin tools?

Hello Sarva,

Ed and Nick both give great suggestions.

Is this happening to only a specific component in the menu item or all of them? And what version of this component did you download?

I'm willing to join in and help as well until you get it figured out. This is rather important.
Warm Regards,

Hi Sarva,

Is only one menu item types not working? Or all of them? (As Steve suggested).

If its all of them, it's an issue with the pop up. What version of joomla did you download?

Did you test on different browsers?

For the upgrade, you should not be using the FTP method. When you go to do the upgrade choose the direct method. Try that and see if it works. You don't need to add your ftp information in that case.

If you want to use FTP you need to activate the FTP layer in the global configuration and enter the correct FTP connection info there.

Hi Sarvam,

I looked at your install and there is at least one problem that needs to be fixed.

If you go to Extensions > Extensions Manager > Warnings tab You'll see that you have a warning. This would prevent things from uploading and may be the cause of your problem. Let's get that fixed then look at it again.

Here are some common problems and this one is discussed and the directions for fixing it are here.
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/installation-problems/

I attached a screenshot of the error I found. I also disabled the FTP layer in your Global Configuration, because you shouldn't need that to do the upgrades. It's easy to turn it back on if you need it.

Also in your global configuration, if you are going to use SMTP as your mail method be sure you put in the username and password or you won't be able to send and receive messages. It would probably be better to try the PHP method if you have problems.

See if you can fix the memory upload error and get back to us.

Cheers,
Ed

Hi Sarvam,

Your hosting provider may not allow you to edit your php.ini file, however, you can contact your hosting server to change any values in that file.

Hi Sarvam,

Please ask them to copy the default php.ini file into the proper directory for you. If they are not willing to do that, then just create a php.ini file using your host's file manager (e.g. cPanel >> File Manager >> new file) or an FTP client.

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Sarva,

You're problem appears to be that your Travel Book Extension is either not installed correctly or is a version that is not compatible with your Joomla version.

WHen you do a normal install without the extension, does the menu item work?

If it works without the plugin, then the plugin is what is causing the problem.

Cheers,
Ed

Hi Sarva,

If no installation of Joomla works, then there are only two possibilities. The original Joomla installation file is corrupt or your webhost is just not suited for Joomla installations.

If you've downloaded and installed the latest Joomla distribution, and you haven't installed anything, and it doesn't work, then you have to look at the host.

Who is your webhost? Do they give you a cPanel with an installer or are you installing Joomla manually?

Ed

Is the Joomla 2.5 site supposed to be an update of the 1.5 site? Or are you trying to do a new site?

I will have some time after work and would be willing to try an installation on your server for you to see if I get the same results. I would need cpanel access, though. If you want me to try, you can send the cpanel login information to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will try this for you as soon as I have time to do it.

Hello Savra,

I looked at your site again and even created a new installation for you. The old and new installation have the same problem that I mentioned in an earlier post.
If you go to Extensions > Extensions Manager > Warnings tab You'll see that you have a warning. This would prevent things from uploading and may be the cause of your problem. Let's get that fixed then look at it again.

You also get this warning.
The PHP allow_url_fopen setting is disabled. This setting must be enabled for the updater to work.

I thought you had solved the php.ini problems but it looks like they were never addressed. Or at least whatever fix was made does not apply to the subdirectory. Perhaps you need to ask the host to restart apache to activate the changes.

I did a new installation today on my test servers with the same package that I used on your server. There are no problems there and that install works perfectly.

I think you need to talk to your webhost and find out why you are getting the php warning and ask them to fix it. I removed my installation and your original installation is exactly as you left it.

Also I can't determine which version TravelBook you are using. It is not registered with Joomla and does not show up in the plugin directory. You should double check and make sure you are using the correct version.

Sincerely,
Ed

Hi Sarvam,

If you'd like to be able to see errors on your site, check out this tutorial:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-tu...eporting-to-maximum/

Also, in my personal opinion, www.cloudaccess.net is my preferred Joomla hosting. If you want to go with something more simple, other's have enjoyed hosting with Rochen as well.

hi tessa,

I have done it says successfully configured. but i have seen Extension manager > warnings says

PHP Upload Size bigger than POST size

The value of the upload_max_filesize in the php.ini file is greater than the post_max_size variable. The post_max_size variable will take precedence here and block requests larger than it. This is generally a server misconfiguration when trying to increase upload sizes. Please increase the upload_max_filesize to at least match the post_max_size variable or vice versa

what it is mean. it means have to reinstall again as well database.???

please advise

Hi Sarva,

That's another server issue. It's best to talk to your host about it.

Also, you can see our list of recommended hosts on the following page:
www.ostraining.com/resources/joomla/hosting/

Hope this helps! :)

Kind regards,
Nick
