Hi there...
Have just discovered 'Menu Item Alias' but have become increasingly unclear what the warning message that appears when it is selected means.
Leave the alias field empty if the menu item alias and the menu item linked to by the alias have the same parent.
.
I Have used menu type alias to link submenu items to the main menu items. Is this the wrong use, and should I leave menu alias empty in this case or not?

[Just to add that when the alias is left empty a date appears in that field when saved. The date initially was appearing in the URLs but this seems to have disappeared now]

Cheers
GWS

Hi
The alias determines the page URL when SEF is activated. Normally you leave it blank as joomla automatically fills it it (with a repeat of the title in lower case and no spaces).
For a sub menu you do not need to fill it in just link to the parent item.
The date filling in is a puzzle to me.
Have a look at these tutorials.
