I've tried 5 times to get it right, but i still can't log in to Joomla on my local host! I've tried following the video "Installing Joomla to work on your PC" as closely as possible. But I'm completely stumped and at my wit's end. Can you help?

Hi Sandy,

Which part of the video are you stuck on? Which parts have you completed successfully?

Looking forward to helping!

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Sandy,

Is it the administrative panel you are trying to log into? What is happening when you try to log in?
Warm Regards,

Yes, I've done everything in the video I mentioned. Then when you go to the next video, Navigating the Joomla Interface. Then, when it start into logging into the back end at the Administration Panel, the video comments that if you stored your username in the browser it will usually pop up. Well, it wasn't stored there and it didn't pop up. However when I was installing Joomla, 1.5,I wrote the password down that I used when the video advised me that it was always a good idea to do it. (the first time the video skipped over a chance to enter a password at the database configuration screen, advising me to leave it blank. Then after ignoring the FTP settings,we came to the admin email and password entry. Here I typed Joomla Test for the site name, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. besie Your Email, and a password that I also wrote down. In fact, to aviod a typing error, I typed it in a place for future reference and then copied and pasted it into the password box.
I thought I was set. This is where I keep getting stuck. But when I got to the Admin screen I was asked for a user name. When installing Joomla the admin section didn't ask for a username. It asked for an email. But in setting up the database the vidoe said to use "root" as a username. So that's what I entered in the admin log in panel, and the password I'd saved. And it didn't work. What am I missing?

Hi
Try "admin" as the user name - that is the default setting.
