Hi,
Yesterday moved my site from sitesuccess/test to sitesuccess.nl. The testsite is still there in the testdirectory.
Now, when I change someting in sitesuccess.nl, it changes sitesuccess.nl/test as well. And the other way around. In my opinion, that is not correct. What can be wrong?

Hi Maurice,

It's because your configuration.php's of both sites are set up to use the same database. You'd have to change one or the other.

The database section of our "Guided Tour of Joomla's configuration.php File" tutorial would likely be a big help:
www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/guided-to...nfigurationphp-file/

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Certainly helps. Maybe one thing extra for other readers: I also had to import all the files/tables in my new datbase (using phpadmin).
While doing that I got this error:
MySQL retourneerde: Documentatie
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near
'?phpMyAdmin=5be8072etcetcetcetc'', '2012-05-03'),
(798, 1, 0, 'zoek' at line 50
Any idea what it means? Although I got this error, the testsite still works okay now (with the new database). For 99% the sites do not effect each other anymore.
Still one thing: when I log out in my testsite, I automatically get logged out in my real site and visa versa. How can I fix that?

Regards, Maurice

Hi Maurice,

Did that error show anything else prior to it?

What is at line 50?

Why does the first word start with a single quite and close with a double quote? Maybe I'm missing something visually. :-)
Warm Regards,

Tessa Mero

Hi Tessa,

Unfortunately I cannot recall these things anymore (message is gone). Only know thre was a big yellow screen full of codes (that seemed to be right).
For now the most important thing is:
When I log out in my testsite, I automatically get logged out in my real site and visa versa. How can I fix that?

Hi Maurice,
Now, when I change someting in sitesuccess.nl, it changes sitesuccess.nl/test as well.
- What did you change? Database or file?
- How did you change it?

Hi Tanh,

This problem is already solved, see one of my previous posts (and Nick's suggestion).
What is not yet solved is:
Still one thing: when I log out in my testsite, I automatically get logged out in my real site and visa versa. How can I fix that?

Hi Maurice,

Thanks, but you didn't give me access to www.sitesuccess.nl/test/ , but rather just to www.sitesuccess.nl/

Kind regards,

Hi Maurice,

I just tried your two sites and I can see what you're problem is and I think it's related to your earlier data base problem.

Have you completely severed the two data bases?
Do they have distinct data base names and distinct database user names?
Have you changed the data base prefixes?
How did you populate the database for the test site?

If you made a copy of the database there will be tables that begin with BAK in the data base. You can try deleting all the backup tables.

Do you still need the test site? Would it make sense to delete it and create another one? Do a completely new install and install all your plugins, then connect it to the database for the test site and see if it operates the same.

Hi Ed,

Thanks.
As far as I can see, everything is seperated with different databses and user names.
Prefix: normal site: [edited by Nick for security reasons]. No BAK. Is this okay like this or should I change something? And if so, how?
And jos and jupgrade is old 1.5. isn't it? Can I just delete that?

If I need to change a lot, I might just delete the testsite.

If you've got backups, you don't need the test site. I would just get rid of it and create a new one next time you want to experiment with changes. It's just my opinion, but it seems like a lot of work for little reward.

If there's some problem with Joomla it will probably be overwritten next time it's upgraded or you could use Admin Tools to do a complete reinstall.

You're welcome. Sometimes it's best just to move on.

Cheers,
